February Release Inspiration from Jennifer

Good morning Oddballs! Jennifer here, and I'm so excited to have my day to share some inspiration using the February 2017 release images from Oddball Art Stamps!

I've made two cards for you today; this release is SUCH a good one, I had SO many ideas floating around it was tough to narrow things down!

Here is my first project, featuring the fantastic Norah's Dance with Cooper and Cruz, #364. This image is so much fun, I adore the look on her face and her sweet little partners, just loving life!!

I have colored the image with Copics, and went with a springy palette, as we are having record-high temps here in Wisconsin (I'm not a fan of winter, but it is still strange to have 65 degrees in February...). Anyway, I was inspired by our lovely temps, and made this card a SERIOUS dance party, with colored sprays, gem and bling, Stickles and Nuvo Drops all falling from the sky to join the fun! It was a lot of fun, and I can't help but smile every time I see this image, I have to say!

My second card features Bedtime Hudson, Image #365. Holy cuteness, Batman!

Again, this image is printed out and colored with Copics. I LOVE this FACE!!! I have boys, so I'm always on the lookout to get my hands on some sweet little guy images...and Hudson is PERFECT!!

That's it for me today! Don't forget to use coupon code DTJENNIFER10 when you're picking up all your new Oddballs in the Etsy shop! Always good to save a few pennies (so you can buy more stamps, of course!) Can't wait to see you again next month for more Oddball Release inspiration!

New Release Inspiration - by Penny

Undead Leni is one of the New images in the store for February.   As soon as I saw her I wanted to layer her up to lean on a wall or a fence.  I used the PNG version of the image and ensured that she was at the front, so her elbow was over the wall.    Playing with the brick background was a fun way to test out colour combo's of bricks, without too much concern about how it would blend.  Lets face it, a brick is pretty forgiving in terms of colouring.

The card layout was made using MFT blueprints, and there is a T.Holtz scribble die thrown in there too.   What I love about this particular image is, she can be pretty or more dark.   By adding rosy cheeks and bright lips, i've kept her more sweet than "undead"

Until next time

Planner page - Inspiration by Penny

The planner pages are coming soon to the shop and the Design team have been given the change to start playing and "planning" so to speak.   I have several punches on hand to create planners and enough card stock and mediums to last me a life time.  If this sounds like you then instead of purchasing a ready made planner than perhaps your more suited to creating your own pages, punching them and then adding them to your planner.

I have several planners that I use in my daily life, one at home and one at work so these pages are going to be about techniques, practicing, creating and learning.    Now planners or binders need a cover, so I looked around at what my other planners use and noted that most covers are laminated to protect the creations or information within.

So I trimmed up some watercolour paper and put it through the printer with a few elements from the files that Lizzy gave us to trial.    I added the sentiment in full black and then used a transparency option in photoshop and muted the flowers to a light grey, looking at now I think I would prefer if they had more pop and were printed in black.  But part of this process is going to be about accepting things I'm not 100% happy with and learning from it, so I continued with the adding of colour.

I used a few mediums to create the cover,  Peerless Watercolour, distress inks, paint for splatter, loads of water, pitt pens, and blending tools and of course I had a drawer beside me open and pulled out stamps and added some texture.  If I wasn't laminating the cover I think distressed/torn edges would of been my next option.  I may still make another page and see how that looks next time.

Im excited to continue playing with this creation.   I am considering having this as an OddBall technique journal, so technique one side of the page and notes on how to on the other.

So how will you use the planner pages?
